233. Captain Phillips (Paul Greengrass, 2013)
There’s no denying that Tom Hanks can act and that Paul Greengrass knows how to build tension. We know it. We’ve seen their work before. This is another good example of that. It’s also a good reminder that Greengrass is overly reliant on handheld, close-ups, and tight spaces to do his job and it gets incredibly tiresome. At over two hours it gets kind of repetitive and it could bear with some help with pacing, but whatever. It’s an alright flick.
