I think it honestly just depends on how much you’re willing to research different topics, especially for anything that might be considered sensitive. Most people don’t really take into account just how much damage they can do with a poor portrayal of something touchy. I mean, even now, I’m writing a few characters that are bisexual/gay and that I can do easily but I’m also attempting to do lesbian/asexual and one POC so I plan on going out of my way to actually ask people what they think of these characters.
