did you think darwin’s super quick death in first class was racist? because i’ve read articles noting that and i have yet to form an opinion on it but i’m leaning towards it

x-men first class was a lot of things and i don’t know if i’d use the terms racist and sexist for them but the fact that a) the camera panned to darwin and stayed on him while kevin bacon talked about slavery might have been trying to make a point and yes it’s the 60s but no that’s really not the right way to handle this AT ALL and then bam he dies two seconds after that and that’s just not how something like that should work andddddddd b) the writing for the women was honestly appalling especially when you have two of the most interesting characters in all of x-men (emma and raven) and you could do SO MUCH WITH THEM but they did absolutely nothing and again the 60s excuse could work but no it couldn’t because look at fucking mad men and how much of a goddamn bitch betty draper can be and she embraces her bitch and jan jones is fab as fuck and should have been better directed and had better lines provided and then j lawrence COME ON YOU CANNOT TELL ME THAT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A SUPER SUBSERVIENT MYSTIQUE WHEN YOU HAVE AN ACTRESS LIKE J LAWR

it’s not a bad movie

but it has a WHOLE LOT OF ISSUES
