98. Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire (Lee Daniels, 2009)
To sum it up simply: great performances from actors that did the best they could with the melodramatic material they were given. I’ve never sat down and wondered why there was so much comedy embedded into a film that’s supposed to be a drama. I sort of felt like the further we got into the movie, the more and more they just wanted to throw stuff at these actors to sit there and make them cry. The soundtrack was pretty great but the sound mixing was not at all well-done and I had to keep turning it up and down every few seconds. Also, Lee Daniels needs to learn how to use a damn camera a little better.
