I guess when it comes to Tim Burton, I’m just going to pretend that Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland don’t exist.

July 2011
Apparently, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is going to be a rebooting of the entire franchise which means we might have to suffer even more terrible films soon.

I guess it’s time for me to finish up Tim Burton and place him under the big old list of director’s who I’ve seen every feature film of.
Planet of the Apes (not looking forward to this) and Batman Returns, here I come!
In case you all haven’t noticed, Mad Men is on Netflix Instant Play and you should all watch it immediately.
I’ve got 3/5 of my assignment on The Shining done! Film Data, Synopsis, and Genre Implications down! Only Cultural Context & Legacy to go, and two full weeks before I have to turn it in!

Even after knowing the ending of Planet of the Apes (due to pop culture and the fact that the fucking ending is on the COVER OF THE BOX), it still proves to be an amazing movie that stands the test of time. That was extremely enjoyable, and it disappoints me that so many terrible sequels (including the most recent upcoming release) have been spawned from it.

Today my friend told me he had never seen The Notebook and before I realized what I was saying, I just blurted out, “The Notebook is an important movie about Ryan Gosling’s beard.”
Promptly after, this was posted:

While rummaging through possible classes for next semester - specifically the second science I still need to take - I stumbled upon an interesting sounding class called “Great Ideas in Science” and I think I’m in love.
It’s essentially chemistry (yay!), biology, geology, and astronomy (yay!) all bundled up into a simple class for non-science majors, and taught by four...

Time to watch The Shining again this month, except this time with commentary. Wouldn’t be surprised if I had to watch it at least once or twice more to finish this six piece assignment.
